Doug came to faith in Christ by the grace of God when he was ten years old. Two years later God called him to full-time ministry, and he preached his first sermon when he was twelve. He served his small country church as a youth.
Doug majored in pastoral studies at Columbia International University in Columbia, SC, and he received his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC in 2008. During his education, he served as a youth pastor and an assistant pastor of students and evangelism. Afterwards, he pastored, and church planted for almost eight years before God called him into full-time chaplaincy ministry in the United States Air Force.
Doug served on the military mission field for twelve years as a reservist (1 ½ years) and an active-duty chaplain (10+ years). His time included personally engaging and building relationships with troops from all different backgrounds, sharing the gospel, developing programs and systems to meet the religious needs of airmen, and counseling military families through their most difficult and darkest times.
Doug came to East Leesville Baptist Church as Executive Pastor in June 2024. He knows God’s plans are greater than anything he can ask for or imagine, and Doug rejoices to serve the LORD with the body of Christ at East.
Doug and his wife Leslie were married on June 11, 2005. They are honored to parent and disciple their children Anna, Caleb, Ruth, Micah, Stephen, and Nathan. Most often you will find them doing ministry together, camping, or watching movies.
